What is the Chinese Zodiac?

The Chinese Yinyang principle consists of a 12-year cycle, each year of which is named after a different animal that imparts distinct characteristics to its year. Many Chinese believe that the year of a person's birth is the primary factor in determining that person's personality traits, physical and mental attributes, and degree of success and happiness throughout one's lifetime. The ancient Yinyang principle constructed a fantastic system of 10 heavenly stems and 12 mundane branches. The latter corresponds to 12 animals with two symbolic functions. Each animal is mystically related to one year in a 12-year cycle. Each animal also represents two hours or one-twelfth of every day. A person's future is determined by this intriguing system. These twelve animals are Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig. For example, the year 2023 is the year of Rabbit.

Red String

♥ Protection ♥ Luck ♥ Faith ♥ Strength ♥ Connection ♥

In lineages of Tibetan Vajrayana Buddhism, tying a cord or string around the wrist is common during ceremonies. Traditionally, the Lama blesses the string and then ties a knot and imbues it with a mantra. Similar to other traditions, it's said that these red cords bring luck and offer protection. In ancient Chinese legend, the Red Thread of Fate is - invisible and ties all those whose lives will intertwine together. It is governed by the Chinese God of marriage, Yue Lao, as it's primarily associated with the link between two people destined to be married. Throughout history and across philosophies, the red string has been worn for protection, faith, good luck, strength, and connection.
Today many people use it as a reminder that they're not alone. It's also a symbol of being loved, supported and, feeling safe and secure. For others, it's a prompt to stay positive while facing any adversity.

Bodhi in Sanskrit translates to “enlightened” or "awakened," therefore the bodhi seed means “enlightened seed”. As an “enlightened” seed, many practitioners wear the bodhi seeds during their meditation practices to ultimately reach enlightenment. Bodhi is also a term in Buddhism to reflect a Buddha’s understanding of the true nature of things. These dark-speckled seed beads have special meaning for all seekers of divine wisdom.
Invite bodhi seeds into your mindful practice and spiritual journey to enhance your awareness and connection.
